Boarding For Pets

For 44 years, we have offered pet boarding as a service for our clients.  Housed in air conditioned comfort at approximately 70 degrees, our canine and feline guests enjoy a relaxed stay that includes Science Diet foods, gentle caregivers and ongoing attention.  

 Dogs

Dogs are housed in separate cages or runs, and in our attempt to offer the safest conditions for our pets, we prohibit aggressive animals.  Each  pet is exercised twice daily.  More exercise times and attention is available at your request, and at an additional charge.

 Cats

Cats are more of the individualist at heart.  Because of that, they are housed separately from dogs, each in its own cage, in an attempt to reduce their stress.  There are some felines, however, that do better away from other cats, and frequently, those pets are much more comfortable near dogs, or in a room by themselves.  For more information on our more exclusive feline boarding facility, see our web page on Oceanview. 

 Dogs And Cats In Stress

Each individual is handled as gently as possible to ensure an enjoyable stay in our facility.  For those that seem more stressed, we work with them to eliminate or reduce any factors that might cause them anxiety while here.  Because of our extensive knowledge of animals, we are able to help most guests, and due to this, Emerson Animal Hospital has hundreds of people and pets who depend upon us for boarding services.  For more information on our more exclusive feline boarding facility, see our web page on Oceanview.  
 

 Birds

Birds are also welcomed for boarding at Emerson Animal Hospital.  I have found that in most cases they are more happy and relaxed when housed in the cage in which they live at home, if possible.  Feeding follows that done at home, too, but pelleted foods are emphasized because of their superior nutritive value.  As with dogs and cats, only healthy birds are accepted for boarding.

 Pocket Pets

These pets are seen in increasing numbers, and as with birds, dogs and cats, they are welcome here, too.  Again, and as with the avians, pocket pets are happiest and healthiest in their own cages, when possible.  They also respond best to the diets they receive at home.  In most of these animals, the inclusion of good quality hay is also a major factor in maintaining their health, and we give them fresh coastal bermuda grass hay while here.  it is advisable to continue this practice at home.

Requirements For All Boarding Pets:

• In the event of illness, any pet is treated, utilizing the latest laboratory techniques and medications, and the pet's owner is responsible for the charges.  Although this is an infrequent occurrence, illness can and do occasionally occur.
