Whether big or
small, or in between, dogs, whether adults or puppies, are
different than our feline friends. A passion to please and a
sad look if they don't succeed tells us that they need our
approval. They love us unconditionally, waiting for us when
we are gone, and overjoyed when we return.
After thousands of years of association between canines and
humans, we have been rewarded with friends who accept us, with our
idiosyncrasies, and companions who comfort us.
Their care, as with cats, is based on the prevention of health
problems and disease. Physical
examinations, diagnostic
tests at times, necessary vaccinations, a good home, castration for male and ovariohysterectomies (spay) for female
non-breeding pets, and proper nutrition have extended their lives, and now
makes it possible for us to enjoy dogs as family members for up to
twenty years!
